Why would I want to use WordPress?
There are many reasons why, but one primary reason is that you can use it to publish your own content to your site; simple, fast with a minimal learning curve.
You can get free themes at WordPress.org as well as purchase some pretty nice themes from other third parties that are ready to use. This can be a fast and easy way to keep your site updated with fresh new content.
One of the drawbacks in using a free or ready to use theme is that a surfer enters your primary site and then ends up in your WordPress blog, and it feels as though they left your main site and went somewhere else. Why? Because the look and feel as well as the navigation has now changed! This is the primary reason why Glendale Designs creates many custom WordPress Themes. We are able to add the functionality you are looking to incorporate into your theme (with Plug-ins or custom scripting), and still maintain the overall look and feel of your main site.
We can of course also create your complete site based on WordPress and use the powerful admin as your content management system, that makes it easy for you to update your site in-house. And a big plus - your site doesn't have to 'look' like a blog at all! You can even have forums, membership sites and online stores integrated into WordPress - WordPress is extremely flexible and has an almost unlimited amount of add-on functionality available.
With that in mind, we have customers that want the site visitor to be able to add comments, whereas other clients use their blog to write about a featured product and or category. Commonly they will link parts of this article to their actual shopping cart, to entice the surfer to shop. Either way, you can chose to accept posts from visitors or not.
True, WordPress is a blog; however the look and feel of the WP site can be customized where it really doesn’t appear like one. Yet you will have the flexibility to add, edit and manage content to your website.
